JCB Backhoe Loaders

JCB is a family business named after its founder J.C.Bamford, who specialized in the production of distinctive yellow-and-black engineering vehicles, diggers (known as backhoes) and excavators. Nowadays, JCB makes more than 160 types of machines for construction, industry, and agriculture.

Joseph Cyril Bamford started the company in 1945 in a garage that measured 12 feet by 15 feet. His idea was to make construction and agricultural equipment. Today, JCB’s world headquarters is one of the finest engineering factories in Europe. The company that began as a ‘one man band’ now employs over 6,000 people and produces over 250 products – with bases in the UK, the USA, India, Germany and South America.

The great thing about this company is that it never stands still. It’s constantly improving the machines, striving for perfection in every aspect. The company is still family owned, without any outside shareholders.

In fact, JCB is so well known worldwide that it became part of the English language, as the Oxford and Collins' Dictionaries listed the word JCB as the definition of an hydraulically operated digger!

JCB is the only non-American company in the USA industrial Hall of Fame. in 1994 it received a Queen's Award for Technological Achievement and in 1997 a Queen's Award for Export Achievement.

The latest innovation in the JCB backhoe loaders is a lock up torque converter which, when fitted to the machine, ensures it maintains top speed for longer, which is advantageous when traveling up hill. This improvement increases the productivity and cost efficiency as it can reduce traveling time between job sites by up to 25% and improve fuel consumption by up to 20% - a revolutionary development giving customers an even better return on their investment.

The JCB backhoe loaders are being exported in over 140 countries. Spain and France are among the most important markets for the company but recently markets in Eastern Europe are also growing fast.

JCB's new backhoe loader, JCB 3DX, will come in three variants with engine options ranging from 76 HP to 96 HP. Backhoe loaders are used in digging the ground and carrying mud, gravel or debris. According to the company, the new machine is better than its predecessor, JCB 3D, in many ways including larger coolers for improved performance in hot environment and extra power for enhanced loading and digging performance. The latest groundbreaking development that is included in this machine engages the machine in top gear to eliminate losses in torque. This results in overall increase in performance, reduced travel times and improved fuel consumption that provides substantial cost saving benefits.
